Inside DevFest Mt. Kenya 2025: What Really Went Down
For a university student, the gap between a lecture hall and the tech industry can sometimes feel massive. DevFest bridges that gap. It is a global initiative that takes technology out of textbooks and puts it into practice, giving learners a chance to see exactly how the theories they study are used to solve real-world problems.
That mission came to life at DeKUT. If there’s one event that truly brought the Mt. Kenya tech community together this year, it was DevFest Mt. Kenya 2025. From the moment the doors opened at 9:00am, the vibe was clear: this was going to be a full day of learning, discovery, and meeting people who genuinely love building things.
The morning kicked off with welcoming of attendees, keynotes, and partner introductions from Angular Kenya, GitHub, and Cursor Kenya. These sessions set the tone: this region is growing fast, and students are right in the middle of it.

By 11:00 AM, the real challenge hit, choosing which breakout session to attend. Nine sessions ran at the same time, covering everything from AI ethics, Spring AI, CI/CD, smart homes, and Kubernetes, to edge AI with YOLO and blockchain in agriculture.
Highlights - Breakout Sessions
Whichever room you walked into, someone was breaking down a concept that actually mattered in the real world. After a short keynote at 11:45 AM, the learning continued with another round of midday sessions. These covered server less apps, Angular Signals, AI agents, decentralized apps, transparent UX, IoT, and even deploying multi-agent systems. It was a lot, in a good way. You couldn’t leave a room without a new idea popping into your head.
Lunch turned into networking. Students compared notes, exchanged contacts, and argued (politely) about which session was the best. By 2:00 PM, everyone gathered again for a panel discussion on how emerging technologies are reshaping the digital space. It was one of those conversations that reminded you that the world is moving fast, and students need to move with it.
The day wrapped up with a student showcase and the closing ceremony. The group photo at the end summed it all up: tired faces, full notebooks, and a shared feeling that the event was worth it.
DevFest Mt Kenya 2025 wasn’t just an event; it was a roadmap for where tech in our region is heading and a reminder that students can play a big part in it.
